Impact of karstification in trapping mechanisms of CO2 storage

Abstract A carbonate-depleted carbonate gas field located offshore Sarawak has been identified as potential candidate for CO 2 sequestration site in conjunction with another high development commercialization efforts. The undergone a feasibility study to evaluate geochemical reactions specifically on trapping mechanisms and storage capacity associated injection. detail 3D reactive transport modelling was conducted quantify the four different mechanism: structural, residual, solubility, mineral during post-injection. model developed by first converted available history matched black oil simulation into compositional model, which is treated separate component reservoir through production injection processes. covered 22 years of forecast followed 27 1000 post-CO column reservoir. results show that store sequestrate up 79% structural trapping, 19% residual 3% solubility no after post-injection period.
